Can She Be That Stupid

After watching the popular Youtube video of Kellie Pickler answering a third grade geography question on the television show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader, I chose to use the voices of Kellie Pickler and Jeff Foxworthy for a kinetic typography project. The purpose of this project is to create parallel visuals for sound using typography. My challenges were not only to successfully choose typography that matched the personality of each voice, but also to convey each personality using the principles of animation.

Skills Demonstrated:

Motion Graphics, Typography, Animation, Storyboarding

Technology Used:

After Effects, Maya, Photoshop

Process

To create compelling kinetic typography, I first worked my way through a progression of storyboards as shown. Every storyboard that I created helped me identify adjustments that needed to be made in order to produce a solid motion piece. After I was finished storyboarding, multiple renders were produced before the final product was finished.
